TRANSFER STATION: The Transfer Station at the end of Knight Road is available for Homeowners to use to dispose of Household refuse. A Transfer Station card is required in order to use this facility. Please obtain this yearly pass at the Administrative Office at 801 W. Center Road.
Wood is no longer accepted at the
Transfer Station Hours of operation are as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, 12 noon through 7:00 p.m. Closed Saturdays, Sunday and posted Holidays. RECYCLING: The Township provides recycling bins at the Transfer Station on Knight Road for Residents to deposit their recyclable materials. Recycling materials include: newspaper, phone books, magazines/junk mail, mixed office paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, aluminum, tin, and plastics (for a more detailed list, contact the Administrative Office at 989-893-7541).
Residents are asked not to place Styrofoam
in the recycle bins at
the Transfer Station.
The Township will be fined and the
recycling service discontinued. Michigan law, specifically Public Act 34 of 2004 , effective November 1, 2004 amends the list of materials banned from landfills to include beverage containers and whole tires. BRUSH COLLECTION: The Department of Public Works picks up brush for chipping April through November of each year. Addresses North of Center will be scheduled for pick up on Tuesdays, addresses South of Center will be scheduled for pickup on Thursdays. Please have
the cut end of the branches facing the road. Please call 989-892-4841 if no answer, call 989-893-7541 to be put on the chipping schedule. YARD WASTE: Yard waste can be taken to the Transfer Station, beginning the first week in April through November each year. Yard waste brought to the Transfer Station in solid containers, plastic bags, or paper bags, "must be deposited onto designated piles at the station." Yard
waste cannot be left in plastic bags or paper bags. 
Top of Page SEWER BACK UP CLAIMS: The following information is being provided pursuant to Act 222 of Public Acts of 2001. Section 19(1) of the Act states in part; "To facilitate compliance with this section, a governmental agency owning or operating a sewage disposal system must make available public information about the provision of notice under this section." If you experience an overflow or back up of a sewage disposal system or storm water system, and you feel that you may have a claim for damages as a result of that sewer backup you must file such claim in writing with the Township Clerk within 45 days after the overflow or back up was discovered or when in the exercise of reasonable diligence the back up or overflow should have been discovered. Written notice by claimants must contain the information required by Section 19 (2)(c) of the Act or recovery of damages may be prevented. A claim form stating the information required and a copy of Act 222 of 2001 may be obtained at the Township Hall or by using the links on this page. Claims should be mailed to:

If you have a sewer back up please contact the Department of Public Works immediately at 892-4841 during regular business hours. After regular business hours, holidays or weekends the Fire Department at 893-7791 and they will dispatch an on call employee to assist you.
